Mrs. Mal Y. Miller Ward
Mrs. Ward is an instructor in the Department of Middle Grades Secondary and Special Education.  Mrs. Ward is a retired Diagnostician from the state of New Jersey.  She has over thirty years of teaching experience in the field of Special Education expanding over grades K-12 and post secondary education.  She joined the faculty of MGSSE in June of 2006.
Mrs. Ward began graduate studies at Seton Hall University where she concentrated in Counseling and Special Services, she graduated in 1987 from Fayetteville State University with a Masters (MA) in Special Education and endorsements in Learning Disabilities and Behaviorally/Emotionally Handicapped.  She completed her M.ED at Harvard University in 1998 in the area of Human Development and Psychology.
Mrs. Ward’s experience includes Professional Development /In-Service workshop presenter, Program Development, Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant,   Assistive Technology Specialist, Psycho-Educational Assessment -trainer, and Early Intervention Specialist.  Her teaching experience extends from K-12 to higher education including Adult Continuing Education.  Mrs. Ward currently teaches Education of Exceptional Children (SPED 320), and Diagnosing & Evaluating Exceptional Children (SPED 460).  Previously she taught Foundations of Education (EDU. 211). 
Mrs. Ward has co-authored a manual for beginning teachers “Teach-Niks”, which is designed to provide novice educators with unique tools and techniques for the profession.
