New Academic Programs Ad Hoc Planning Committees (2004-2005)
Biotechnology Program Planning Committee – Drs Fleming, Juma, Chao, Umantsev
Charges:
· Assist the Chair in establishment and implementation of B.S. Biotechnology program by fall semester 2005.
· Complete and submit “Request for Authorization to Establish” the new program to the FSU Chancellor and UNC Board of Governors by November 2004
· Assist the Chair in recruiting tenure-track faculty members in implementing the Biotechnology program.
· Provide the Chair progress reports in December 2004, March 2005, June 2005 on the establishment and implementation the program
Forensic Science Program Planning Committee – Drs Allen, Umantsev, Breitzer, Akbay, and (Dr. Barlow, CJC Department, interim chair)
Charges:
· Assist the Chair in establishment and implementation of B.S. Forensic Science program (Forensic Biology and Forensic Chemistry) by fall semester 2005.
· Complete and submit “Request for Authorization to Establish” the new program to the FSU Chancellor and UNC Board of Governors by November 2004
· Assist the Chair in recruiting tenure-track faculty members in implementing the Forensic Science program.
· Provide the Chair progress reports in December 2004, March 2005, June 2005 on the establishment and implementation the program
Fire Science Management Planning Committee – Drs Breitzer, Salek, Autrey, Han, and Abokor (a faculty from the Department of Management may be added)
Charges:
· Assist the Chair in planning, developing, and establishing B.S. in Fire Science Management program (New Distance Education Program) in the Department by fall semester 2006.
· Complete and submit “Notification of Intent to Plan a New Distance Education Degree Programs” of the new program to the FSU Chancellor and UNC Board of Governors by November 2004
· Assist the Chair in identifying and developing distance education courses in the new program by March, 2005.
· Assist the Chair in submitting “Request for Authorization to Establish a New Distance Education Program” to the Chancellor and UNC Board of Governors by June 2005.
· Assist the Chair in recruiting tenure-track faculty members in implementing the Fire Science Management program.
· Provide the Chair progress reports in December 2004, March 2005, June 2005 on the planning and developing the program
Physics and Astronomy Program Planning Committee – Drs Wu, Abokor, Mattox, Rahi, and Umantsev
Charges:
· Assist the Chair in planning, developing, and establishing B.S. in Physics and Astronomy program in the Department by fall semester 2006.
· Complete and submit “Notification of Intent to Plan a New Baccalaureate Degree Programs” of to the Chancellor and UNC Board of Governors by November 2004
· Assist the Chair in identifying and developing courses and degree plan for the new program by March, 2005.
· Assist the Chair in submitting “Request for Authorization to Establish a New Degree Program” to the FSU Chancellor and UNC Board of Governors by June 2005.
· Assist the Chair in hiring tenure-track faculty members, if needed, in the implementation of the new program.
· Provide the Chair progress reports in December 2004, March 2005, June 2005 on the planning and developing the program
Master Degree Program in Environmental Studies Planning Committee:
Department of Natural Sciences representatives - Drs Hudson, Johnston, Rahi,
Juma, Mattox (5) Dr. J. Kuti, (Ex-officio).
The
Department Representatives will:
This
proposed new graduate program is university-wide and interdisciplinary in
nature, and it involves other Departments such as Mathematics/Computer Science;
Sociology; Government & History; Health Education; Managerial Economics
& Finance; and Management.
