Mission Statement

The Department mission is to provide effective academic programs and courses in biology, biotechnology, chemistry, forensic, physical, and allied health sciences at the undergraduate level and programs in biology at the graduate level. The Department prepares students and all citizens for life in global community through education, research and outreach programs. The Department is committed to the discovery and communication of knowledge in the fields of Natural Sciences (Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Forensic, Physical, and Allied Health Sciences). The Department provides a high-quality and excellent undergraduate instruction in Natural Sciences and a solid foundation for upper division work, and gives students opportunity to broaden her/his knowledge before deciding on a specific major or profession. The Department offers degrees in selected natural sciences to prepare students for careers in government, industry, health-related professions, education, or for pursuing further study in graduate or professional schools. We strive to develop abilities and values, to serve our regional, national, and international clienteles, and create a nurturing and learning environment for students, faculty and staff.

The Department is committed to the mission of the Fayetteville State University in accommodating the higher education needs of its students and proving life-long experiences and cultural opportunities for members of its immediate and extended communities.
