Majoring in the Minor: A
Closer Look at Experiential Learning
The 2007 NC Honors Association Annual Meeting (NCHAAM) promises
to be an exciting experience!
Registration for the 2007 conference
is open!
Hosted by Fayetteville State University September 28-29, 2007
Holiday Inn Bordeaux
Fayetteville, North Carolina
The idea behind this year’s theme is to place experiential
learning at the “center” of analysis and inquiry rather than on the
peripheral edges of the academic learning experience. For
example, how do teachers approach a theoretical framework that can
be transferred into useable working knowledge ? How do students
come to know the materials we teach? What lines of inquiry can we
explore to design the next generation of curricula and co-curricular
design that responds to what we are learning and what we can learn
about student achievement? How can teachers enhance the educational
experience or design new layers for different kinds of learners? We
welcome faculty, student panel and joint presentations that explore
all outside classroom experiences to include: study abroad, semester
internships, summer research, service learning, field studies,
cross-cultural/international education (study abroad) , leadership
development, apprenticeships, practicums, student teaching,
cooperative education, service learning, project work, etc.
