Greeting from the Chair
Welcome! We are excited about our nursing program at Fayetteville State University (FSU) where our motto is “Together We Can Change the Future of Nursing”. Our uniqueness lies in a diverse student body and faculty. For example, the majority of our junior students/Class of 2010 are from areas outside of Fayetteville. Just to name a few, they are from Germany, Kenya, Spain, Arizona, Georgia, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, and Indiana. Also our senior students/Class of 2009 comprises traditional and non-traditional students such as second degree seeking students, transfer students, and military students. The faculty, staff, and administration at FSU celebrate the diversity of the Department of Nursing and believe in its’ success. Our common goal is to develop the most highly regarded nursing program possible in the state of North Carolina. Faculty are fully committed and dedicated to your success and producing professional nurses that will serve individuals, families, and communities within the southeastern region of the United States and beyond.
The Fayetteville State University Department of Nursing (FSU-DON) offers a baccalaureate RN to BSN track. The nursing program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). We have partnerships with several government, private, and public clinical agencies in Fayetteville and surrounding areas to provide our students with a well-rounded and rewarding experience. This will prepare them with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in one of history’s oldest, yet, greatest professions.
On June 12, 2008, we had a groundbreaking ceremony for our nursing building “Southeastern North Carolina Nursing Education and Research Center”. Our graduates are prepared for the following six interrelated roles: client advocate, clinician, leader, educator, collaborator/ coordinator, and consumer of research. North Carolina and America needs nurses who can provide safe, competent, and cost-effective care. In joining the FSU Nursing Family, we are counting on you to respond to that call! We appreciate your interest in the program and we wish you much success on your journey to achieve your goal of becoming a professional nurse.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jimmie R. Williams, CNAA,B.C. NEA,B.C.
