Biography

Dr. McArthur-Kearney earned her Doctoral Degree in Health Administration from Central Michigan University and is currently certified as a Nurse Executive through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She received her Masters' of Science Degree in Nursing Administration from Duke University and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. McArthur-Kearney has been a Registeerd Nurse for over 30 years and has worked in the roles of Director of Nursing Education, Nurse Manager, and Nurse Educator in the acute care setting. She has several years of clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing, post-operative surgical nursing, and nursing education. Her research interests include diabetes care and health disparities among diverse populations living in rural areas. She also served as a research site coordinator for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing for the "Transition to Practice New Graduate Nurse" research study. Dr. McArthur-Kearney has published work on employee safe lifting practices and currently has publication work in progress that focus on the examination of differences in self-care practice among individuals diagnosed with diabetes.
