Transition to College Conference May 6, 2017

This annual conference teaches rising college freshmen strategies to be successful in college. Transition sessions will focus college success skills and provide assistance on overcoming barriers and challenges that freshmen face once they arrive on their college campuses. 

Eligibility: Current 2017 graduating seniors (students must be enrolled in a program hosted by the Office of College Access Programs).

National Summer Learning Day July 13, 2017 (REGISTER NOW)

The Office of College Access Programs will host National Summer Learning Day, a nationwide event created by the National Summer Learning Association in order to boost awareness about the problem of summer learning loss. Educators, parents and community citizens are invited to stop by to witness innovative and engaging activities (i.e., robotics, engineering, dissections, etc.) that showcase the summer programs offered through the Career and College Readiness Institute.

Eligibility: Parents, educators and community citizens.

TRIO Upward Bound Summer Institute June 12 - July 14, 2017                   All Spaces are Filled

The Upward Bound Summer Institute is a residential program that provides a unique opportunity for Upward Bound participants to experience college life in an organized and supervised environment. Students will participate in challenging academic coursework including English, math, science, and Spanish, along with extracurricular activities to include theater arts, physical education, and computer science. Students have the opportunity to enhance their time management skills, study skills, and social development skills by participating in personal development and cultural activities designed to enhance and enrich their self-awareness.  The program is free and all meals will be provided. 

Eligibility: Rising 10th -12th grade students enrolled in the Upward Bound Program.

TRIO Upward Bound Math & Science Summer Research Scholar Program June 12 - July 21, 2017 All Spaced are Filled

The Upward Bound Math & Science Summer Research Scholar Program is non-residential program designed to strengthen students' math and science skills and allow them to experience college life in an organized and supervised environment. Students will participate in challenging academic coursework to include robotics, math, science, career choices, research, and extracurricular activities.  Students have the unique opportunity to recognize and develop their potential to excel in math and science and pursue post-secondary degrees in these fields. The program is free and breakfast & lunch will be provided. 

Eligibility: Rising 9th -12th grade students enrolled in the Upward Bound Math & Science Program.    

TRIO Talent Search UNITE Camp June 19- July 14, 2017 All Spaces are Filled

The Talent Search Stem Camp, which is partnered with UNITE, is and Army-funded program for talented high school students from groups historically underrepresented and underserved in science, engineering, and mathematics.  Students will gain a better understanding of the real-world applications of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students will also engage in activities that will promote problem solving skills as a team, gain confidence in STEM fields and be exposed to careers in the STEM field. 

Eligibility:  Rising 9th - 12th grade students enrolled in the Talent Search program.

Research & Engineering Apprenticeship Program (REAP) All Spaced are Filled

A summer STEM program that places talented high school students, from groups historically under-represented and underserved in STEM, in research apprenticeships at area colleges and universities. REAP apprentices work under the direct supervision of a mentor on a hands-on research project. REAP apprentices are exposed to the real world of research, they gain valuable mentorship, and they learn about education and career opportunities in STEM.

TRIO Talent Search II Summer Programs (July 10-14, 2017) Accepting Applications

Join the movement and get involved in TRIO Talent Search II summer programs. Select multiple activities or join us every day. Rising 9th-12th grade high school students must be enrolled in the Talent Search II program and ready to learn and have fun. Spaces are limited and filled on a first-come first-serve basis. To attend field trips on Friday, students must attend at least two activities during that specific week. You complete a Talent Search II application to be considered for summer camps offered by this program.  LUNCH is PROVIDED (See Summer Camp Flyer and Summer Camp Application
