The Leadership Program

Components

                    1. Interactive Sessions

                            Leadership: It’s worth thinking about...

Once a week for eight weeks, Student Leadership Program (SLP) participants will gather for informative, engaging, interactive leadership training sessions. Students will be put on the fast track to becoming a campus leader. Sessions will cover the purpose, scope, limitations and ethical considerations of being a student leader. Each participant will be exposed to the concepts of leadership philosophies and principals. Thru feed back opportunities their level of understanding will be evaluated and those students with successful completion will receive the Fayetteville State University Certificate of Student Leadership.

2. Guest Speakers

Drawing from the well of inspiration...

Learning through the benefit of others’ experiences is instrumental in communicating the characteristics and values of historical innovations made by past and present leaders. Dynamic individuals from Fayetteville State University and the surrounding communities will share their knowledge, struggles and life’s wisdom with SLP participants. The aim is to inspire and motivate smart leadership.

3. Leadership Retreat and Field Experience

Smart leaders share...

Sometimes, it is necessary to remove one’s self from the hum-drum of daily living in order to reflect on achieving ones goals. A new environment might be just the inspiration one needs to network with peers and concentrate on objectives.

4. Volunteerism

Intrinsic value of personal growth...

The most important aspect of the SLP is to instill in our students a since of responsible obligation. The smart leader’s impact is for their good and the good of society. Accountability is key. Leadership is not position; its action!

5. ME- Mentor Evolution

Leaders never stop growing...

Do you need F.E.L.P.? Well chances are, aspiring freshmen leaders do. The Freshmen Emerging Leaders Leadership Program (FELP) is designed to guide and mold FSU freshmen of today into the student leaders of tomorrow. ME pairs SLP participants with FELP participants and allows for the freshmen to learn from their upperclassmen counterparts. It also allows SLP students to train and transfer responsibility to students prior to exiting office. Student leaders effectively evolve to student mentors.

6. Omicron Delta Kappa

National Leadership Honor Society

Founded December 3, 1914, it is the national leadership society for college student, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni. It recognizes and encourages superior scholarship, leadership, and exemplary character.
