The School of Education also offers the Master's Degree in Education (M.Ed.),
designed for educators holding a "A" level license and the Master of
Arts in Teaching (MAT), designed for students with a baccalaureate
degree in specific disciplines.
The
(M.Ed.) program consist of a core of education courses with a concentration in one of
the following areas.
- Biology Education, 9-12;
- Elementary Education, K-6;
- English Education, 9-12;
- History Education, 9-12;
- Mathematics Education, 9-12;
- Middle Grades Language Arts, 6-9;
- Middle Grades Mathematics, 6-9;
- Middle Grades Science, 6-9;
- Middle Grades Social Studies, 6-9;
- Political Science Education, 9-12;
- Reading, K-12; Sociology Education, 9-12;
- Special Education, Behaviorally Emotionally Disabled, K-12;
- Special Education, Learning Disabilities, K-12;
- Special Education, Mentally Disabled, K-12.

In
contrast to the M.Ed. the MAT is designed for unlicensed,
inexperience teachers who may benefit from a developmentally
sequenced field base approach. The MAT offers opportunity for
an initial license in ten (10) teaching areas:
- Biology Education, 9-12;
- English Education, 9-12;
- Social Science-History Education, 9-12;
- Mathematics Education, 9-12;
- Middle Grades Language Arts, 6-9;
- Middle Grades Mathematics, 6-9;
- Middle Grades Science, 6-9;
- Middle Grades Social Studies, 6-9;
- Social Science-Political Science Education, 9-12;
- Social Science-Sociology

Curriculum, K-12.
The
primary focus of the MAT is on earning an initial "A" level license
with subsequent opportunities to earn a master's degree with
eligibility for an "M" license.
