PACE is a University of North Carolina system-wide initiative that began in April 2006, when UNC President Erskine Bowles proposed the idea in his inaugural address. Immediately thereafter, goal setting, data gathering and analysis, and benchmarking began at each of the constituent institutions. In the first phase, FSU gathered data and submitted a report to UNC GA, capturing costs and expenditures throughout the university. The second phase required FSU to adopt the PACE key operating principles, identifying opportunities for collaboration, innovation, elimination of redundancy, and overall improved management of the University’s resources with a focus on streamlining administrative functions and redirecting any cost savings to the core mission of education, research, and public service. specific targets and measures for implementation in fiscal year 2007-2008 and beyond. In June 2007, FSU submitted its final report and implementation plan to UNC GA, including short- and long-term activities designed to yield savings, cost avoidance, and an environment of efficiency and effectiveness.
As a public institution, Fayetteville State University has and will continue to embrace the PACE initiative to ensure that we serve our mission of education, research, and public service with integrity, prudence, and accountability at the forefront. |
