Investigations Division

The University Police Department's Investigations Division is responsible for criminal and administrative investigations involving the Fayetteville State University Community and is under the command of Lt. Michael Murphy. Police Investigators assigned to this division are on-call 24 hours and respond to all major crime scenes and any other investigations to which they are assigned.

Police Investigators dress in civilian clothing unless their assignment dictates otherwise. The Investigation Division works closely with other local, state, and federal authorities, monitors local pawnshops, and analyzes crime trends to determine and implement preventive actions. This division is also responsible for detailed and thorough interviews of victims, witnesses and suspects, assisting the District Attorney's Office with the prosecution of major cases, serving as a witness for the state and preparing statements and evidence prior to trial.

The University Police Department is always willing to assist you with your concerns, and all reports made to the Investigations Division will be held in strictest confidence. Please feel free to contact us with any information you may have about crimes occurring on campus or something you believe may help keep our community safe.

During regular business hours, you can contact the Investigative Division at 910-672-2486.  If you wish to contact us after office hours, phone 910-672-1341.
