W. Glenn Clingempeel, Ph.D.

W. Glenn Clingempeel, Ph.D. is a professor of psychology. Dr. Clingempeel received a Ph.D. in clinical-community psychology from the University of Virginia in 1980. He previously held faculty positions at Temple, Penn State -Harrisburg, Francis Marion, and the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Clingempeel was Co-Principal Investigator with Dr. Mavis Hetherington on a MacArthur Foundation grant funding a longitudinal study of the effects of marital transitions on child development. He was also Project Coordinator of a $4 million dollar NIDA grant funding a randomized clinical trial and long-term follow-up of the effects of Multisystemic Therapy on substance-abusing juvenile offenders. His research interests focus on risk and protective factors (and their interactions and reciprocal interdependencies) in predicting long term outcomes for children exposed to various adversities. Dr. Clingempeel is a licensed clinical psychologist in North and South Carolina.
