Stephen Gill, Ph.D.

At FSU since 2005

Dr. GillStephen Gill, Ph.D. is a counseling psychologist with extensive experience in leading and managing counseling agencies in the non-profit sector. A skilled psychotherapist and hypnotherapist with more than 6000 hours of therapy experience, Steve is dedicated to training and supervising Masters level therapists-in-training toward their career goals. In recent years Steve led the Lee County Partnership for Children, a state program focused on early child development and school readiness and most recently has been at the forefront of North Carolina’s mental health reform efforts. Working for the Southern Regional Area Health Education Center and the Duke AHEC program Steve directed a 3 year Duke Endowment grant to establish state-of-the-art mental health workforce training programs to teach therapists the latest evidence based mental health treatments for severely mental ill citizens. Steve’s research interests include interventions for HIV prevention and treatment, health disparities, and the impact of psycho-linguistics on the mind-body interface.
