Research Center STAFF


  • Dr. Akbar Aghajanian, Director

    Dr. Akbar Aghajanian is a professor of Sociology-Demography. He received his MA and Ph.D. from Duke University in Durham, NC and completed postdoctoral research at the International Population Center at Cornell University. He has taught and conducted research at the University of Washington in Seattle before he joined Fayetteville State University in 1990. He has served as consultant to the United Nations Fund for Population Activity. He has research and training grants from Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Education, and National Science Foundation. Currently he also serves as Director of the Research Center for Health Disparities.
  • Sharmila Udyavar, Statistical Research/Coordinator, Survey Research Center

    Sharmila Udyavar is Coordinator for the Survey Research Center and conducts statistical research in areas of health inequalities in addition to coordinating and administering activities at the Survey Research Center
  • Tameshia Eaton, Administrative Support

  • Tameshia Eaton provides administrative support for the Research Center for Health Disparities and the Survey Research Center.
