The Department of Residence Life works diligently to provide a comfortable and safe environment structured to enhance the academic climate at FSU. We are dedicated to integrate education and out of class learning, while providing opportunities for leadership, citizenship and campus involvement.
The Director of Residence Life oversees the operation and management of the Department. Residence Life consists of three primary areas, each supervised by a director. These areas are:
The Department of Residence Life employs over 70 staff members to assist in creating a memorable residential living experience. In addition, Residence Life includes a quick-response maintenance team, custodial team, and administrative support staff. Each person plays a key role in making your stay at Fayetteville State rewarding.
The main purpose of the live-in staff is to assist you while living in the residence hall. They are there to help with any problems you may encounter, answer questions regarding policies and procedures, and ultimately build community. Below you will find a brief description of some of the individuals you may encounter during your residential living experience.
Resident Assistants: RA’s are undergraduate students who have been specially selected and trained to assist professional staff with building community within the residence halls.
Community Specialists: CS's are graduate students who have been selected to assist residence hall directors with various tasks related to maintaining a community atmosphere within the hall.
Residence Hall Directors and Assistants: RD’s and Assistant RD’s are professional staff members who are dedicated to maintaining a well-balanced setting in the residential community.
