Graduate Program Degree Requirements

Master of Arts in Sociology

Program Requirements				36 credits
Required course for students with a deficiency in sociology: (3 credits when required)
		SOCI 500	Sociological Concepts (this may be used as an elective for other students)
Core courses for all students				12 credits

Sociology electives:				9-12 credits
		Twelve (12) hours (9 hours for those who were required to take SOCI 500) must be selected from 500 and 600 level courses within Sociology (SOCI prefixes). At least one of the electives must be at the 600 level.
Electives:				6 credits
		Six (6) additional credits may be chosen from 500 and 600 level courses within Sociology or from other programs (including transferred credits from other universities) in consultation with the student’s advisor.
