Biography Dr. Samuel Adu-Mireku is an associate professor of sociology and the interim associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. He began his academic career as head of the Humanities and Social Sciences Department at Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton, South Carolina. He also taught for three years at Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina. From July 2004 to July 2009, he served as chairperson of the Department of Sociology at Fayetteville State University. Also, from August 2010 to July 2012, he served as the interim director of FSU’s Office of Faculty Development. He teaches Sociological Research Methods and Introduction to SPSS for Windows. His current research interests focus on youth risk behaviors, sociology of HIV/AIDS, and sociology of higher education, including assessment and accreditation issues in African higher education. He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Sociology (with a specialization in research methodology and international development) from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, USA. His B.A. in Sociology is from the University of Ghana.
