Biography Dr. Shyamal Kumar Das obtained his PhD in Sociology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He earned his Bachelors and Masters in Sociology from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He had another Masters in Development Studies from the Netherlands. Dr. Das started his teaching career in the USA at Minot State University, North Dakota, and joined Fayetteville State University in Fall 2008. At Minot State, he was recognized as one of the four faculty members in Arts and Sciences Division in 2006. His research interests cover globalization, quantitative methods, theory, gender, culture, and crime/deviance. He published several articles on theories of development and globalization, disaster, and bio-social explanations of criminality. He presented numerous papers on globalization, culture, and HIV/AIDS at national and international conferences. Dr. Das is currently working on environmental philanthropy and Islamism. |
