The Office of Assessment supports the School of Education's assessment system and is actively involved in the methodical collection of unit, program and candidate data. The assessment process makes the performance criteria for teacher candidates and school executives explicit and public; sets appropriate guidelines for quality assurance within programs and the overall unit; supports how the unit and programs systematically gather, analyze, and interpret student evidence in relationship to institutional, professional and state standards; and engages key stakeholders in using data to inform continuous improvement efforts. The Office of Assessment also trains students and faculty in the e-portfolio system, Taskstream. Ultimately, the information collected as a part of the assessment system serves as a basis for curricular reform, program development, fiscal management, and strategic planning.
