Ms. Latonya L. Leeks, Professional Development Schools Coordinator for the School of Education. A native of Fayetteville and product of the Cumberland County School system, Ms. Leeks attended North Carolina Central University where she earned both her Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a concentration in Media Journalism and Master of School Administration degree. She earned her professional teaching license in Middle Grades Language Arts from Fayetteville State University. She has worked for the Cumberland County School system for 14 years as a middle grades reading teacher, 21st Century Community Learning Center Site Coordinator, literacy coach and building administrator. In addition to serving as a liaison to a number of local education agencies, Ms. Leeks conducts Praxis I workshops in the areas of reading and writing as well as mentoring young people interested in entering the teaching profession.
