Dorothy Gallon Holmes 
Biography

Ph.D., Sociology, 1988, North Carolina State University

M.Ed., 1980, East Carolina University, Greenville, North Carolina.

B.A., 1971, Bethune Cookman College, Daytona Beach, Florida.

Dr. Holmes currently serves as Executive Director of Special Programs (Student Support Services, Educational Talent Search, GEAR UP, Upward Bound, and Educational Opportunity Center): These programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Education and are designed to provide the following services and activities to enrolled participants: (a) academic support services, such as tutoring, to low income students who are enrolled in middle and high school; (b) academic and educational support services to students enrolled at FSU; and (c) educational support activities and guidance for adults who are interested in enrolling in college. These services are provided to the targeted population in the following counties in the State of North Carolina: Cumberland, Hoke, Sampson, Harnett, and Robeson.

Dr. Holmes is also an Associate Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology.
