FSU MBA Students Win 1st Place in a National Business Plan Competition

A team of five MBA students from Fayetteville State University participated in the 7th annual Opportunity Funding Corporation’s (OFC) Venture Challenge Business Plan Competition in Atlanta, Georgia during April 2007. FSU won 1st place beating 17 teams from across the country. Teams were judged on the quality of their business idea, strength of the business plan, and oral presentation. Fayetteville State’s business plan is based on SmartSaws, Inc. a company producing industrial saws with the most advanced computer software in the industry. The product is currently in trial run at a major furniture manufacturer. The team received a $10,000 prize and an invitation to compete in the Global MOOT CORP® Business Plan competition at the University of Texas at Austin. The MOOT CORP® competition is the first and longest-operating, intercollegiate, new-venture competition in the world.
