Name: Kimberly
Major: Nursing
Hometown: Thomasville, NC
Kimberly Threadgill knew what she wanted to do long before she came to Fayetteville State University. FSU just helped her to reach her dream.
"I have always desired to become a registered nurse and aid in caring for individuals' health and well-being," states Kimberly.
After coming to FSU on an Honors Scholarship, Kimberly wasted little time in making her mark on the medical field.
"As a freshman and sophomore, I became a member of the Bio Phi Chem Science Club and the Student Nursing Association where I was able to participate in a wide range of programs, events, and community service opportunities," she answers.
Kimberly didn’t stop there, she also joined the National Student Nursing Association. This opportunity presented Kimberly with the chance to conduct research and give presentations to students and faculty on campus. This organization not only looks great on her resume, but it offers a unique perspective on nursing.
"Through this organization, I have participated in fund raisers and various community service projects, such as visiting local nursing homes and assisting with community health fairs," says Kimberly.
With the effort Kimberly is putting into her academics and her involvement in the medical field, she still finds time for other activities as well.
"As a member of the Honors Program, I helped to collect and donate food and clothing for the less fortunate in North Carolina," Kimberly expresses.
Kimberly’s resume includes Bronco Women, a member of First Steps, a tutor in the writing center and for the Gear-Up program. She has received so much in the alloted four years and is thankful for her time.
"Fayetteville State has allowed me to advance my knowledge, further my education, participate in summer internships, engage in so many campus activities and community projects, and overall encouraged me to expand my horizon," she declares.
With the opportunities of FSU combined with the heart of a future graduate, the long awaited goal is not far away.
"My future goals include obtaining a Master’s degree in Public Health and specializing as a Pediatric or Mental Health Registered Nurse," she says.
