GENERAL INFORMATION


The Center for Personal Development offers a confidential counseling atmosphere for currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students where personal, social and academic concerns may be discussed.  Individual and group counseling services are available as well as testing and assessment services.

APPOINTMENTS


Appointments can be arranged by visiting our office in the Spaulding Building, Room 155, or by calling 672.1222/1203 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students with  disabilities are encouraged to contact our office about special assistance or accommodations. All enrolled undergraduate and graduate students are eligible at no cost.

HOURS OF OPERATION

Monday:  
8:00 a.m.  to  5:00 p.m.

Tuesday & Wednesday:
8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Thursday & Friday:
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP COUNSELING


The Center For Personal Development provides individual and/or group counseling services that address such concerns as:

  •      depression

  •      anxiety

  •      loneliness

  •      low self-esteem

  •      uncertainty about choice of major/career

  •      problems relating to others

  •      relationship issues

  •      family issues

  •      study skills improvement

  •      managing test anxiety

  •      substance abuse

  •      eating disorders

  •      stress management

    

PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES

A clinical psychologist is available to offer counseling services as well as assessments and evaluations.  These evaluations focus on identifying personal, social and academic challenges that may be interfering with successful matriculation through the university.  In addition, at the student's request, the psychologist will collaborate with physicians involved in the student's care to discuss the most effective means of providing assistance (e.g., medication, etc.)

 

 

 

OUTREACH


Educational programs are offered on various mental health topics. Faculty members may request presentations that address the concerns of college students and that complement course content. For example, programs on student stress, career decision making, eating disorders, and substance abuse are often requested.
