How many credit hours can I take as a special visiting student? The maximum course load is seven (7) hours in a single session, although students with cumulative GPAs of 3.0 or higher are permitted to enroll in a maximum of nine (9) hours. Students exceeding the load limit during Summer Session I by adding one Intersession course should complete and submit the Course Overload Request Form.

  11. Do I need permission from my Home institution in order to take summer classes at FSU? Although you do not need permission to take summer classes at FSU, final authority regarding transferablity of courses and those courses that are applicable towards a particular degree rests with your home institution. Please contact your academic advisor for assitance.
