BiographyDr. Jones, Associate Clinical Professor and retired Navy Social Worker has over 35 years of social work experience. She is a clinician who has conducted workshops, presentations and published in the areas of military family issues, ethnic and minority family issues, domestic violence in the military and Veterans and Women Veterans issues. In addition to providing clinical services to military personnel and their beneficiaries, a great deal of her active duty career was in developing Family Advocacy policies and programs. She has served as a consultant to the Navy Surgeon General, U.S. Embassy, London, England and programs serving foreign refugees and political prisoners in Guantanamo Bay Cuba. She has also served as Associate Professor and Director of the PhD Program at Norfolk State University. She is a NASW Social Work Pioneer and actively involved in National Association of Social Workers (NASW), Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), and the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW). Her awards include: USN Social Worker of the Year, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, Navy Commendation Medal with 3 gold stars, Navy Achievement Medal with one gold star, Southwest Asia Ribbon, and Overseas Ribbon with 5 bronze stars. She received her PhD from Norfolk State University, Masters in Social Work from West Virginia University and Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Bennett College, Greensboro, N.C. |
