COL Jennifer L. Humphries was born in San Antonio, Texas to LTC (Ret) John E. Runnion and Barbara Runnion.  She was raised as an Army Family Member across Europe and the United States.   

COL Jennifer L. Humphries graduated from the University of North Florida in 1989, with a BBA in Finance and received her commission from the ROTC program at the University of Florida.  She has earned a Master in Health Care Administration, Master in Social Work from SUNY-Albany and PhD in Social Work from The Catholic University of America in Washington DC.  Her dissertation was titled "Social Vulnerabilities and Post Treatment Outcomes: a Study of alcohol and cocaine dependency".  She has also completed a Child and Family Studies Fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.  Upon completion of OBC, she was assigned to Fort Lewis, WA where she served as a Platoon Leader in a Medical Clearing Company during Desert Shield/Storm.  Her next assignment was as the Medical Regulating Officer (MRO) for the 62d Medical Group.  During her position as the MRO, she was deployed to Somalia, Operation Restore Hope, and was responsible for in and out theater medical bed regulation for all services and coalition forces.  She also served as the Deputy Chief, Patient Administration Division at Madigan Army Medical Center and Company Commander for E Company, 187th Medical Battalion. 

From her experience as a Company Commander, she decided to become an Army Social Worker and did so through the Long Term Civilian Education program.  Upon graduation from her MSW program, she worked as Deputy Chief, Department of Social Work at Womack Army Medical Center, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Behavioral Science Officer for the 1st BCT, 101st Airborne Division (AASLT), Chief, Behavioral Health Services for U.S. Army Medical Department Activity - Japan, Director, Behavioral Health Division and the Social Work Consultant for Europe Regional Medical Command.  She is currently the Chief, Department of Behavioral Health. 

COL Humphries' awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, ARCOM with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Expert Field Medical Badge, Air Assault Badge as well as other unit commendations.

She is married to an outstanding husband and father, Steve, who has been a huge support to her over the last 15 years.  They have two very active children: Alise (13) and Ashley (11).
