FSU Touring Company
As part of the Performance Laboratory class, the FSU Touring Company can come to your school, organization, or meeting with improvisation and excitement! Let us entertain and educate you with impromptu theatre that enhances your curriculum or meeting topic and makes learning fun!
Schools....with as few as three actors and often as many as ten to twelve actors, we offer your students an interactive look at thinking on their feet and thinking critically, creatively and imaginatively by getting them actively participating with our improvisational actors. If you have a special topic you'd like to address, call ahead and give us that topic and we'll try to tailor our exercises to fit your subject matter.
Churches....we offer religious pieces with heartfelt messages that teach a lesson while telling a story. Much like using Bible stories to teach a lesson, we incorporate your lesson into our theatre pieces. Call ahead to schedule specific stories.
Contact Phoebe Hall at 672-1006 for more information or to book a performance for your school or organization.
Possible Performances include:
Off the Cuff...improvisations and theatre games. Appropriate for elementary and middle school grades but fun for any age. Our most popular and most requested show!
The Living Slave Narratives...A compilation by Phoebe Hall from The American Slave Narratives collected by The Works Progress Administration in 1936-38. The entire collection of interviews with slaves and descendants of slaves can be found in George P. Rawick's The American Slave: A Composite Autobiography (Westport, Conn.: Greenwood Press, 1972-79). This performance piece encompasses both Reader's Theatre and a memorized 'narrative.'
OTHERS SHOWS AVAILABLE BY REQUEST WITH SUFFICIENT REHEARSAL TIME:
Dueling Shakespeare Written by Phoebe Hall. A foray into 5 actors' emotional tumultuous roller coaster lives using Shakespearean scenes, quotes, and monologues. Who is the stronger character in Shakespeare....the male or the female? The audience decides in this play based on the strength of the performances!
PLEASE DO FEED THE ACTORS! While all performances are free, we do ask that you provide a meal for our actors as they often have to miss 'last call' at the campus cafeteria. We appreciate your kindness and cooperation in this.
(The Touring Company may or may not be available every semester due to enrollment in the Performance Laboratory class.)
