PART B - Strengthening Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Program (undergraduate)

Uses of Funds:

• Purchase, rental, or lease of scientific or laboratory equipment for educational purposes -- instructional and research
• Construction, renovation, and maintenance of instructional facilities
• Faculty development and exchanges
• Academic instruction in disciplines where blacks are underrepresented

Purchase of educational materials

• Student services
• Funds and administrative management and acquisition of equipment for use in strengthening management
• Joint use of facilities

PART B - Strengthening Historically Black Graduate Institutions (HBGI) Program

Uses of Funds: "Support is... provided to sixteen graduate HBCUs that are making a substantial contribution to the legal, medical, dental veterinary, and other graduate education opportunities of black Americans."

PART C - Endowment Challenge Grant Program

Use of Funds: "...grants are awarded to eligible institutions of higher education to enable them to establish or increase endowment funds."
