About Upward Bound Math & Science
Eligibility Requirements:
Students accepted to the program receive free services and are expected to make a serious commitment to both post-secondary education and the Upward Bound Math & Science Program. Only students from the following public high schools are eligible to apply:
- Douglas Byrd High (Cumberland County)
- Lumberton High (Robeson County)
- Westover High (Cumberland County)
You should apply to the program and participate if:
- You will be in the 9th grade (students in the 8th grade may apply for admission but will not be admitted until they receive their final 8th grade report card)
- You have an interest in science, mathematics, engineering, or a related area STEM field
- You attend one of the target high schools: Douglas Byrd High and Westover High in Cumberland County or Lumberton High in Robeson County
- You are a potential first generation college students and/or students whose taxable family income meets Title IV Federal Eligibility Guidelines
- You plan on continuing your education after high school at a four-year college
- You are willing to participate in all aspects of the Upward Bound Math & Science Program
How to Apply:
Students must complete a program application and submit the following:
- Application
- Copy of Parent(s) or Guardian(s) 1040/1040A Income Tax Form (most recent copy)
- Release Form
- Two (2) recommendation forms
- High school transcript
