Dr. John Brooks is currently associate professor of history and Director of University College. A native of eastern North Carolina, he left the state to pursue a doctorate in history at the University of Chicago. After teaching at institutions in Texas, Massachusetts, and Colorado, he returned to North Carolina in 1998 to become an assistant professor of history at Fayetteville State University. Dr. Brooks became director of University College in 2004. He has brought his interests in collaborative learning and educational technology to bear on student success. Dr. Brooks helped create the Learning Communities Initiative at FSU. He designed a database to track student usage of the University College Learning Center. He supervises FSU's use of EMT Retain, an e-communications software that allows University staff to identify, track, and communicate with students in academic difficulty. | ||||||
