Name: James
Hometown: Fayetteville, NC
Major: Visual Arts
What influenced you to become involved in the arts?
As a child I was always creating art and had a fascination and talent for it. My involvement now stems from the fact that I never considered making a career out of art (until now).
What is your favorite medium, and what inspires you?
Oil painting and drawing. My inspiration is drawn from the experiences that come from being a African-American in this country and the history of my culture.
What are your current projects?
I am currently working on studies for my senior project at FSU.
Why did you choose to come to FSU?
The Visual Arts program at FSU offers an excellent opportunity to learn and grow as an artist. The program has just been revamped, so I have come here at a great time.
What would you tell a prospective student about coming to FSU?
There is a lot of diversity in the student population as well as among the faculty. The instructors are very accessible and take a lot of time to help the students.
James spent eight years in the U.S. Air Force and holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Campbell University as well as a M.A. from Webster University.
