Associate Professor

Dennis Corbin received his Bachelor of Science degree in History from Bowie State University, his Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from Clark Atlanta University Whitney M. Young School of Social Work, and his Doctorate of Philosophy in Social Work Degree from Howard University.

As Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work, School of Health and Human Services at California State University, he taught Generalist Social Work Practice I & II, Field Seminar I, II, III, and IV, Seminar in Mental Health, Mulit-Cultural Perspectives in Practice and Directed Research I in the MSW program. At Howard University he served as Adjunct Faculty for the School of Social Work and taught Social Work Practice and Processes in foundational sequence. He also served as Adjunct Faculty at the University of the District of Columbia where he taught English as a Second Language and General Education Diploma (GED) courses in the Adult Education program. During his Student Teaching Internship at Great Mills High School, Dr. Corbin assumed all responsibilitis for the 11th grade United States History class.Dr. Corbin was one of four reviewers of applicants for admissions to Howard University Graduate School of Social Work. His duties included evaluation of applicaitons based on academic, post baccalaureate experience, statememts of interest, and letters of recommendation. As Clinical Manager he was responsible for the coordination of out-placement housing services for homeless and recovering individuals of the transitional program. As Senior Case Manager at the Carl Vogel Center located in Washington, DC he assessed the needs of HIV positive clients, coordinated and linked individuals to services throughout the DC area. He worked as a Therapeutic Social Worker for For Love of Children (F.L.O.C.) where his duties included intensive case management of therapeutic foster families and children. Dr. Corbin served as Service Coordinator for So Others Might Eat (S.O.M.E.) where he provided case management for a 93 room housing faculity for residents dealing with mental health, substance abuse, HIV/AIDS and other issues. At the Eggleston Youth Center, Inc. in Baldwin Park, CA, he planned and coordinated clinical services for abused and neglected youths who were referred by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
