Adjunct Lecturer

Andrea Abbott, LCSW, RPT, joined the Social Work Department at Fayetteville State University in August 2018 as an Adjunct Professor. She earned a BSW degree from Fayetteville State University in 2014.  She then went on to earn her MSW with Advanced Standing in 2015 from Fayetteville State University. In 2017, Andrea completed her LCSW and earned her Registered Play Therapist designation. Andrea works in a private practice setting providing individual and family therapy.  She currently serves children who are involved in the foster care system that have experienced complex trauma. She also has experience with nonprofit and program development. Andrea is a member of the Association for Play Therapy.  Her interests include parenting education, neurobiology of childhood trauma and attachment theory as it relates to decreasing symptoms of complex childhood trauma.
