Admission to LEAP
|There are many good reasons to accept FSU's invitation to participate in the FSU-LEAP Scholars Program.
FSU-LEAP is by invitation only (from the Office of Admissions) for first-time freshmen, majoring in STEM-ONLY areas, admitted fall 2019, who are interested in a transitional experience between high school and college.
The program offers classes in science and math so if you have credit for those already, you may not attend FSU-LEAP. However, if you have already received credit for Math 129, you may be eligible for the LEAP/RISE track. A division of the Department of Biological Sciences, FSU-RISE offers opportunities for faculty, staff and students to engage in professional development and creative scientific research. The FSU-RISE Program uses a series of educational interventions with proven success to increase the number of underrepresented groups completing MS or Ph.D. degrees in STEM and the biomedical science research careers. LEAP/RISE students should be interested in pursuing a graduate school education leading to MS or Ph. D. degrees in Biomedical Sciences upon FSU graduation. FSU-LEAP is open to in-state and out-of-state students. Out-of-state students must pay the difference between resident and non-resident costs.
Secure Your Space
Space in FSU LEAP is limited. After students are invited by FSU's Office of Admissions, spaces are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis until the program is full.
To confirm your attendance, please do the following:
- Complete and return the LEAP contract to the Office of Admissions no later than Friday, June 28th. You will receive the participation contract in the mail. Students will also receive an email about LEAP, but do not need to take any action on the email itself; students will only need to return the contract.
- Attend First Steps (June 1st, June 27th, or June 28th) and participate in the information session about LEAP there.
First Steps RegistrationLEAP students need to attend First Steps in either May or June so their registration is complete before the summer program begins. If you have any questions about First Steps, contact University College at (910) 672-1251. If you have not yet registered for First Steps, please do one of the following:
- Sign-in to BroncoVille, the online enrollment portal, where you can accept or decline the offer of admission and register for First Steps. You will need your Banner ID, which you can find on your letter of acceptance.
- You will receive periodic e-mails with the subject heading "First Steps Invitation." These messages will include links to the registration sites for each date. To register for First Steps, you can click on the link in your e-mail invitation.
Hint: Register for First Steps as early as possible and complete the First Steps Questionnaire (in your email), to ensure the best fitting pre-registered schedule for you.
