From February to June 2015, FSU conducted a range of energy upgrades and maximized the scope, effectiveness, and benefits of performance contracting, i.e. projects involving energy service companies (ESCOs) and optimal operating performance, replacement of entire Lyon Science windows with high performance insulated glass w/ low-E coating and argon infill, Taylor Social Science Building's roof replacement, FSU Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) Project, etc.
In 2014-15, FSU's energy intensity was 92,178 British thermal unit (Btu) per Gross Square Foot (GSF), a reduction in energ intensity of about 36% compared to the baseline 2002-03, which is one of the highest reduction reported in the entire UNC school system.
