Center for Personal Development
The Center for Personal Development (CFPD), formerly the Counseling Center, strives to meet the needs of students within the guidelines of the university's policies and procedures as mandated by Fayetteville State University's Board of Trustees.
College life, while stimulating and exciting, can also be stressful. College students are faced with numerous decisions and choices. Counseling can assist a student in making satisfying decisions and resolving problems concerning personal feelings, relationships, life choices, and success in school. No problem is TOO BIG or too small to talk over with a counselor. The focus is to provide preventive and developmental services to augment the total educational process of all students. Programs and outreach services are designed to assist students in their emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
The Center is available to provide students with an opportunity to experience personal, social, and academic growth through a variety of services and programs.
The Center for Personal Development offers Counseling Services to include individual and group counseling, workshops and presentations by licensed professional counselors. The Center also offers psychological, social, and general diagnostic evaluations.
The Substance Abuse Education/Prevention Program's purpose is to increase campus awareness regarding the effects of drugs and methods for preventing substance use/abuse.
The Student Disability Services Program assists in making reasonable accommodations related to campus life for students with disabilities by working closely with other areas of the University as well as community agencies.
