The Ernestine Carter Chance Endowed Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a Junior or Senior majoring in Natural Sciences.   In memory of his wife Ernestine Carter Chance, alum John Chance created the Ernestine Carter Chance Endowed Memorial Scholarship. She obtained her degree in Business Education from North Carolina Central University and taught in the public schools of North Carolina, Virginia and Louisiana.  Her greatest desire in life was for every child to experience the same good educational opportunities as she gave her son.
