The Writing Center provides a safe and comfortable writing community where students can receive one-on-one consulations/sessions on their writing projects.

  • Students will sign in and out for all consultations. First-time visitors will read and sign a student contract prior to receiving writing support from the tutors.
  • Professional and peer tutors begin by assessing the student's need(s) and reason(s) for visiting the Writing Center. Tutors and students will work together during the writing process.
  • You must bring some type of draft, outline, brainstorm, or attempt to receive help from the tutors.
  • Students are responsible for their own work, therefore, you are prohibited from dropping off your paper to be proofread, edited, or otherwise checked.
  • Writing Center Tutors will write any suggestions and/or comments on the consultation form. They will aid in the writing process, however they are not "ghost-writers".
  • The amount of work done on the a paper in one session is determined by the length of the paper, the complexity of the content, the number and types of problems, and the time remaining before the paper is due.
  • All students receive a copy of their consultation form as proof of their visit to the center. Visits are reported to instructors, as requested.
