Sheila Cannon, PhD, PMHCNS, PMH NP-BC obtained her degrees from Hampton University (PhD), University of Virginia (MSN & BSN), Cameron University (AD), and Vanderbilt University (Post Master Certification PMHNP).  She has been an RN for 31 years, a practicing board certified psychiatric clinical nurse specialist and nurse practitioner, and an educator for 20 years.  She is the Clinical Director of the Collaborative Institute for Interprofessional Education and Practice (CI-PEP) and Assistant Professor of Nursing within the Department of Nursing at FSU.  She has practiced for many years in a large practice group south of Boston, in the State of Virginia, and is currently a practicing PMHNP in Brunswick County, NC.  She has successfully led faculty development initiatives focused on infusing cultural competency, interprofessional education & practice, strategies for NCLEX Success for students, and the use of best practices in information technologies for online and blended pedagogy in nursing curricula.  Her research encompasses racial disparities, cancer care, psychosocial health and wellness, and caregiving.  She has several publications and works in progress.
