FSU degree-seeking students are required to take at least six (6) hours per summer session in order to be eligible for financial aid during Summer School.

Special Visiting Students

Special Visiting Students are defined as those who are taking courses for reasons other than earning a degree. These applicants are required to submit an application with a $40.00 (non-refundable) fee and to furnish one of the following credentials:

  • Official high school transcript or equivalency certificate.
  • Official transcript of any other university, college, technical institution, junior or community college attended.
  • Applicants accepted as special visiting students must apply for full admission to the university when they earn 30 credits at FSU.
  • If you have at least a Bachelors degree and desire to take undergraduate courses for reasons other than earning a second undergraduate degree, you must apply as a Professional Development student through our Graduate Admissions Office.

Special Visiting students receive their alternate pins for registration as well as year-round campus support through the Office of Summer School.  Although you do not need permission to take summer classes at FSU, final authority regarding transferability of courses and those courses that are applicable towards a particular degree rests with your home institution.  Please contact your academic advisor for assistance in securing a Course Approval or Request Permission for Course Transfer Form.

Pre-requisite overrides will be entered manually by the Office of Summer School upon the request of the special visiting student. It is the responsibility of the student to seek prior approval from their home institution to ensure that the correct course necessary to complete degree requirements will be taken.
