What's Your BIG IDEA?

Overview

The Start-Up Pitch Competition invites undergraduate students to propose innovative solutions in financial technology (Fintech) or insurance technology (Insurtech). Participants will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges for the chance to win prizes and gain exposure to industry leaders.

Date: October 30-31, 2025

Team Composition

  • 2 to 4 undergraduate students per team
  • Interdisciplinary teams are encouraged (e.g., Business + Computer Science)

Pitch Format

  • 10-minutes verbal pitch
  • Optional presentation slides (visual support)
  • 5-minute Q&A session with judges

Pitch Content Guidelines

  • Your pitch should clearly explain:
  • The Problem – What is the issue? Who is affected?
  • The Solution – What is your product/service?
  • Technology – How is fintech/Insurtech used? Description of the technology that supports the solution.
  • Market – Who are your customers?
  • Business Model – How will it generate revenue?
  • Impact – Why does it matter?

Judging Criteria (100 Points Total)

  • Problem Definition & Relevance: 20 points
  • Innovation & Originality: 15 points
  • Use of Technology & Feasibility: 15 points
  • Business Model & Market Fit: 10 points
  • Engagement and Delivery: 20 points
  • Impact & Scalability: 10 points
  • Response to Questions: 10 points

Competition Timeline

  • Pitch Prep Time: Teams finalize ideas before the competition.
  • Presentation Time: 10 minutes + 5-minute Q&A
  • Winners announced during conference closing session

Prizes

  • 1st Place: $1500
  • 2nd Place: $1000
  • 3rd Place: $500

Competition criteria. There will be a selection of five finalist teams if the entries exceed the target. Selected finalists will be informed in September.
