Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program

Admission to the BSN Upper Division Program is competitive

  • Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission
  • Applicants are ranked based on established admission criteria to include:
    • Minimum overall grade point average of 2.8 in prerequisite courses
    • Minimum Math/Science GPA of 2.8 in prerequisite courses
    • Kaplan Entrance Exam score
    • Other factors as outlined by the School of Nursing

Upper Division Application Information

Application Periods:

  • Spring – September 1st- September 30th
  • Fall – February 1st – February 28th

University Admission Requirement

Before completing any steps toward the BSN Upper Division application, you must:

  • Be admitted to Fayetteville State University (FSU)
  • Have an assigned Banner ID and FSU email address

Kaplan Entrance Exam Requirement (Required Before Applying)

Before submitting a BSN application, all applicants must complete the Kaplan Entrance Exam. This exam must be completed by September 15th, for Spring admission and completed by February 12th for Fall admission.

  • A minimum score of 65 or higher is required
  • Students cannot apply to the BSN Upper Division without a qualifying score

Kaplan Entrance Exam Instructions

The Kaplan Entrance Exam is administered on campus through the Student Testing Center.

Step 1: Register with Kaplan

Select: Semester Year ADM you are applying for (even if this is not your first attempt)

  • Create an account or log in using your FSU school email address
  • Check the box: “I do not know my test date”

Important Notes:

  • You must use your school email address when registering
  • If using a mobile device, verify your name appears correctly during registration
  • Contact program staff if you experience any registration issues
  • Your cart should appear for $0.00

Step 2: Schedule Your Exam & Pay Testing Fee

  • Testing Center fee is $23.50 and Kaplan fee is $100.00 for a total of 123.50

  1. Select “Kaplan Nursing Exam” under Choose a Group
  2. Select “Kaplan Nursing Exam” under Choose an Exam
  3. Choose an available date and time *Please refer to Kaplan exam deadlines above*
  4. Enter your personal information
  5. Click Add to Cart and complete registration
  • You will receive a confirmation email after registering

What to Bring:

  • School ID or driver’s license
  • Proof of payment (receipt)

How to Apply to the BSN Upper Division Program

Once you have completed the Kaplan requirement, follow these three required steps:

Step 1: Meet with Your Academic Advisor (Required)

During the application period, you are required to:

  • Meet with your academic advisor
  • Confirm you are on track to meet all prerequisite course requirements prior to the start of the program

This next step is mandatory to ensure eligibility for the BSN program.

Important Application Notes

  • You must be admitted to FSU and have a Banner ID and school email before proceeding
  • The Kaplan Entrance Exam must be completed by the deadline with a score of 65 or higher before applying
  • Meeting with your academic advisor during the application period is required
  • All required documents must be uploaded once ready to apply
  • Incomplete applications will not be accepted
