Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program
Admission to the BSN Upper Division Program is competitive
- Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission
- Applicants are ranked based on established admission criteria to include:
- Minimum overall grade point average of 2.8 in prerequisite courses
- Minimum Math/Science GPA of 2.8 in prerequisite courses
- Kaplan Entrance Exam score
- Other factors as outlined by the School of Nursing
Upper Division Application Information
Application Periods:
- Spring – January 1 – January 30
- Fall – September 1 – September 30
University Admission Requirement
Before completing any steps toward the BSN Upper Division application, you must:
- Be admitted to Fayetteville State University (FSU)
- Have an assigned Banner ID and FSU email address

Kaplan Entrance Exam Requirement (Required Before Applying)
Before submitting a BSN application, all applicants must complete the Kaplan Entrance Exam.
- A minimum score of 65 or higher is required
- Students cannot apply to the BSN Upper Division without a qualifying score
Kaplan Entrance Exam Instructions
The Kaplan Entrance Exam is administered on campus through the Student Testing Center.
Step 1: Register with Kaplan
Select: Semester Year ADM you are applying for (even if this is not your first attempt)
- Create an account or log in using your FSU school email address
- Check the box: “I do not know my test date”
Important Notes:
- You must use your school email address when registering
- If using a mobile device, verify your name appears correctly during registration
- Contact program staff if you experience any registration issues
Step 2: Schedule Your Exam & Pay Testing Fee
- Testing Center fee is $10.00
Follow these steps:
- Select “Kaplan Nursing Exam” under Choose a Group
- Select “Kaplan Nursing Exam” under Choose an Exam
- Choose an available date and time
- Enter your personal information
- Click Add to Cart and complete registration
- Testing Fee: $100.00
- You will receive a confirmation email after registering

Collins Building, Room 116
What to Bring:
- School ID or driver’s license
- Proof of payment (receipt)
How to Apply to the BSN Upper Division Program
Once you have completed the Kaplan requirement, follow these three required steps:
Step 1: Meet with Your Academic Advisor (Required)
During the application period, you are required to:
- Meet with your academic advisor
- Confirm you are on track to meet all prerequisite course requirements prior to the start of the program
This step is mandatory to ensure eligibility for the BSN program.
Step 2: Download and Complete the Application
- Download the BSN Upper Division Application
- Save your file as:
Last Name, First Name – BSN Application
Step 3: Submit Your Application
- Click “Apply to BSN” and follow all instructions
- Upload the following required documents:
- Signed and completed application
- Copy of DD214 or ID card for veterans/ active-duty military
- Email Official transcript(s) to schoolofnursing@uncfsu.edu
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended must be sent directly from the approved transcript service
Important Application Notes
- You must be admitted to FSU and have a Banner ID and school email before proceeding
- The Kaplan Entrance Exam must be completed with a score of 65 or higher before applying
- Meeting with your academic advisor during the application period is required
- All required documents must be uploaded during Step 3
- Incomplete applications will not be reviewed
