Fayetteville, N.C. — Fayetteville State University (FSU) recognized 292 students for superior academic achievement during the fall semester at its 2023 Chancellor’s List reception, held October 4 on the FSU campus.

FSU Chancellor Darrell T. Allison and Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Monica T. Leach delivered greetings and congratulations. Students received special medallions commemorating their achievement and represented all four colleges across campus: the Broadwell College of Business and Economics, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the College of Education, and the Lloyd College of Health, Science and Technology.

“We aim to provide a superior academic experience for our students that will prepare them for rewarding careers and future success in life,” said Chancellor Allison. “ It is remarkable when you consider that we have nearly 300 FSU students who not only took us up on what we were offering academically, but these students far exceeded expectations to be deemed Chancellor List beneficiaries. Therefore, we are honored and appropriate in celebrating their excellence in this fashion.”

To qualify for the Chancellor’s List, students must complete at least 15 semester hours during one semester (or two consecutive terms for military students ), earn a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher with no incomplete grades. With over 5,800 undergraduates, those achieving this milestone represent just over 19% of full-time baccalaureate students.

“FSU students are among the brightest and most creative minds anywhere,” Leach said. “They embrace the academic rigor in our colleges and programs, and fully dedicate themselves to learning. They are seeing the results of their efforts, and we are thrilled to spotlight their achievements.”
