Dr. Quienton L. Nichols Appointed Associate Dean for College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Fayetteville State University

Fayetteville, N.C. (August 31, 2023) — The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Quienton L. Nichols as the new Associate Dean, starting Fall Semester 2023. With a distinguished background in academia and a commitment to advancing the college's mission, Dr. Nichols brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this pivotal leadership role.

As the Associate Dean, Dr. Nichols will play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. With an academic career spanning over 17 years of administrative experience in higher education, including his service as the Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Social Work in the School of Social Work at Fayetteville State University and Master of Social Work (MSW) Program Director.

Dr. Nichols holds a Bachelor's and Master of Social Work degrees from the University of Georgia, School of Social Work in Athens, Georgia, and a Ph.D. in Social Work Administration, Planning, and Social Science with a cognate in Counseling and Psychological Services from the Clark Atlanta University Whitney M. Young School of Social Work in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Nichol’s background aligns seamlessly with the college's commitment to fostering critical thinking, cultural understanding, and social impact. He demonstrated a deep passion for fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, enhancing student engagement, and promoting innovative research within the humanities and social sciences.

In Dr. Nichols's new role, he will oversee the entire scope of planning, operations, and resource management for the College to ensure a smooth execution of the College’s administrative, instructional, service, research, and operational functionalities. His role includes (1) Strategic planning and policy development (2) Academic program development and review (2) Curriculum Development and Enrollment Management (3) Resource development (4) Space Management, Management, and Allocation (5) Faculty Relations. His leadership will contribute to the college's ongoing efforts to provide students with a transformative educational experience and advance groundbreaking research in the humanities and social sciences.
