Class of ‘75 Alumnus James McPherson Secures Future for Management Majors

Date: March 11, 2026

James McPherson

James McPherson, a member of the class of 1975 and a certified executive coach, is a strategic performance partner and the founder and CEO of his firm, which focuses on developing leaders, teams, and organizations in the faith-based community. He is strengthening the future of Fayetteville State University through a blended gift. This contribution combines estate planning with an endowment specifically for business students majoring in management.

“I have decided to make a multi-year gift,” McPherson said. “I was motivated by the significant capital improvements and by the professionalism of the alumni development team at FSU.”

This commitment coincided with the 50th anniversary of his graduation. The milestone allowed him to see the university's growth while reconnecting with its core mission. McPherson credits his time at the university with providing a foundation for his growth in business, higher education, government, and community service.

Lasting Support for Management Majors

Beyond his personal history, McPherson is focused on ensuring that future Broncos have a similar foundation. By establishing this endowment, he ensures that students will have ongoing support for leadership development and career preparation.

University leaders believe these gifts create meaningful outcomes that help students persist and graduate. Omar Bell, vice chancellor for university advancement, noted that such contributions have a far-reaching effect.

“McPherson’s commitment will have a profound impact,” Bell said. “This is an investment in student success and in the strength of Fayetteville State for generations to come.”
