Best For Vets

Fayetteville, N.C. - Fayetteville State University (FSU) was announced as one of Military Times’ 2023 Best for Vets: Colleges on Nov. 6.

“We are extremely proud to be recognized for our efforts supporting military-connected students,” said Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Success & Enrollment Management Dr. Pamela Baldwin. “We emphasize creating an environment and providing resources to produce a great academic and co-curricular experience for individuals and families affiliated with our military services.”

In the latest rankings, FSU is ranked 6 out of 7 UNC System institutions on the list of 325 colleges and universities. This is the fifth time FSU has been ranked since 2014. Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges is the largest and most comprehensive annual ranking of schools for military service members and veterans.

FSU is a leader in service to military-connected students nationwide. In February 2022, the university announced its Military Tuition Scholarship which provides free tuition to all military-connected students. The scholarship program began later that year.

About the Best for Vets Rankings

Each year, Military Times sends their survey to colleges and universities across the nation asking about their programs for veterans. The survey results are then analyzed, along with public data about colleges and universities obtained from the Department of Education and Department of Veterans Affairs and turned into an official ranking. Schools were asked to complete the survey earlier this year and the responses were then analyzed by the Military Times data team, producing the highly anticipated, respected, and unbiased annual ranking.
