FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Fayetteville State University has named Wesley Fountain as Vice Chancellor for External Affairs and University Advancement, effective immediately.

In this, Fountain will provide strategic direction for the University’s external affairs and advancement efforts, strengthening FSU’s relationships with alumni, donors, corporate and community partners, government leaders, and other key stakeholders. He will also lead efforts to further advance the University’s philanthropic priorities, expand external partnerships, and enhance FSU’s visibility and impact across North Carolina.

“Wesley has demonstrated a deep commitment to Fayetteville State and an ability to build relationships that advance the university’s priorities,” said Chancellor Darrell T. Allison. “His leadership and knowledge of this institution will serve us well as we continue expanding philanthropic support and strengthening our connections with alumni and partners.”

Fountain has served at the university since 2010, holding a series of leadership positions focused on community relations, external affairs, government affairs, military partnerships, and public policy. In May 2026, he was appointed interim vice chancellor for University Advancement, adding oversight of the division to his responsibilities.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from Winston-Salem State University and a master’s degree from Fayetteville State University.
