FSU Celebrates Ribbon-Cutting for Newest Residence Hall

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Fayetteville State University (FSU) today celebrated a milestone moment with the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for its newest residence hall, Bronco Pride Hall, a $50 million investment designed to enhance the student living experience and support academic success.
Located in a prominent area on campus, Bronco Pride Hall is easily seen from Langdon Street, where the historic Vance Hall once stood before its demolition. This four-story facility, built by Metcon Construction of Pembroke, spans 87,930 square feet and includes 336 double-occupancy rooms, each equipped with a private bathroom. Constructed with a steel frame on a concrete slab foundation, the hall provides a modern and welcoming environment for FSU’s growing student population.
The amenities include a full-size kitchen on the first floor, perfect for community cooking and late-night snacks. There is also a spacious laundry room equipped with 16 washers and 20 dryers. Each floor features multiple study rooms to promote academic focus, along with breakout lounges for relaxation and informal gatherings.
“This new residence hall is more than just brick and mortar,” said Dr. Juanette Council, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. “It is a powerful investment in our students and their success at Fayetteville State University. Somewhere within these walls, dreams will be realized.”
The celebration brought together faculty, staff, students, legislators, and community partners who played a vital role in making the project a reality. FSU recognized their contributions as an example of the strong partnerships that enable the University to expand its impact across North Carolina.
“I want you to know that it wasn’t the chancellor, nor the Board of Trustees, nor the administration that mandated the name of this new residence,” said FSU Chancellor Darrell T. Allison. “It truly originated from the hearts, minds, and spirits of our students.”
Student Government Association President Latoya Harper echoed that sentiment, noting the transformative impact of the project. “This beautiful $50 million residence hall with 336 beds and over 80,000 square feet was built to give students a better home, better resources, and a better experience,” Harper said.
Bronco Pride Hall highlights FSU’s dedication to creating environments where students can excel academically, socially, and personally, marking another significant advancement in the University’s extensive campus enhancement plan.
