Fayetteville State University Names Jalisha Pone Associate Vice Chancellor for Development

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Fayetteville State University has named Jalisha C. Pone associate vice chancellor for development in the Division of University Advancement, effective Aug. 17.

Pone brings more than a decade of fundraising experience, including extensive work in higher education advancement, major gifts, donor engagement and campaign strategy. She most recently served as senior director of development at Methodist University, where she helped lead development initiatives supporting institutional priorities, including the Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine.

In her new role, Pone will oversee key areas of FSU’s development operations, including major gifts, annual giving, campaign planning, and corporate and foundation relations. She will also work with university leadership to develop fundraising strategies supporting FSU priorities and manage relationships with major and principal gift prospects.

“Jalisha brings a strong understanding of both advancement and Fayetteville State to this role,” said Wesley Fountain, vice chancellor for External Affairs and University Advancement. “She knows how to build meaningful relationships with donors and connect their interests with opportunities to make a lasting impact for our students and the university. I am excited to welcome her back to FSU and to our leadership team.”

Pone previously served at Fayetteville State from 2016 to 2020 as associate director of development. During that tenure, she managed a portfolio of prospective donors, exceeded annual portfolio goals and closed a $500,000 individual gift. She also led corporate and foundation relations efforts and developed donor stewardship initiatives for the university.

Before joining Methodist University, Pone held development leadership positions at North Carolina Central University, including director of development for the School of Business and director of development for Student Affairs. At NCCU, she raised more than $3 million during fiscal year 2022 and developed a $12 million fundraising strategic plan for the School of Business.

Pone earned a Master of Public Administration from North Carolina Central University and bachelor’s degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership with a concentration in higher education at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.
